The band held a special concert at Amersham Free Church in May 2005 in memory of several of their members.Ralph Mulryne, Ian Nicol and Bill Lovell, and Jean Archer, who all passed away recently.
Ralph Mulryne, was the bandmaster of the Amersham band, and died in November 2004. He played a variety of instruments during his 20 year membership, including his favourite euphonium. Ralph was instrumental in the band's biggest successes, including playing at the Royal Albert Hall.
Bill Lovell, the band sergeant, who passed away in April 2005, had been a member of the band for over 25 years, playing his beloved trombone. He also a mentor to the training band. Bill was a member of Tea for Six, a local jazz group who often played in the Red Lion in Little Missenden.
Ian Nicol, who died earlier in 2004, joined the band in spring 2003. He played the cornet in the training band, before moving to the main band as a cornet and bass player. He was also a keen jazz trumpeter.
The concert also acted as a memorial for former town mayor, local historian and Vice President, Jean Archer, who passed away in the Spring of 2004 and who was a founder member of the band when it re-formed in 1977.
