Alan Duguid is the new MD at Amersham Band.

Alan Duguid

A native of Aberdeen, Alan joined the cornet rank of his local brass band, Bon-Accord Silver, where his association with banding began at the age of 14.

Alan has worked with many ensembles in Scotland including the Glasgow University Wind Band, Bathgate Band, Newtongrange Silver Band, Kingdom Brass, Clydebank Burgh and Shotts St Patrick's Brass.

In 2001, Alan won the Scottish heat of the NABBC Conductor Competition, going on to represent Scotland at the NABBC finals in 2003. As well as conducting in Scotland, Alan has had the great fortune to work with ensembles as far afield as Japan, which he has visited on many occasions, working with the Tokyo Brass Concord and several wind bands in the surrounding area. More recently, Alan has been leading Woodbridge Excelsior Band and Regent Brass.

Alan brings a fresh approach and ambition to Amersham Band and we are very fortunate to have his leadership. The Band is already working hard with him on our Christmas programme and preparation for contesting.
